Bob Radomski’s take:

Overall strategy going into the draft: My strategy was to focus on purchasing of one of the top three shortstops and for the pitching purchase three mid $15 to $12 starters instead of one of the top pitchers.  The split in my pre-auction budget was 185/75.  Knowing that the talent in the NL is limited I was not going to completely sit out in the early heavy bidding.  Finally stick to the budget drawn up before the draft.

Did it work?  The bidding early was heavy and high so much so that I adjusted my strategy from SS to 1B/3B and one stud pitcher (Webb).  Using the budget I adjusted the categories.  I was joined in avoiding the first few high priced rounds by Shandler, Perry, and Cockcroft; all whom purchased their first player late in the draft.  In the NL this year this is very risky with the limited number of high value players.  Name rookies and second year players were over priced, with closers trending under priced.  Early draft strategy was very important not to have dollars left over at the end with little or no stats available for purchase.

Best bargain of the draft:  Headley ($12) may pay off along with Fred Lewis ($13).

Biggest surprise of the draft: The Cincinnati premium paid for Bruce ($23), Votto ($27), and Hernandez ($15).

Which pick (if any) do you regret? Regret picking Dave Roberts who was cut earlier in the day.

Which player do you wish you'd gone the extra dollar for?  Should have gone the extra dollar for John Maine ($9) or Headley ($12)
